Move Name Service

A naming system on the Aptos and the Move ecosystem.

MNS is a naming system on the Aptos and the Move ecosystem.

MNS allows Aptos users to map a human-readable name to their Aptos wallets. They don’t need to use not-human-readable names (e.g. 0x6b0erv0r6t328rtt9485769ee22eaa091b91faa233a1a90320f0ffb2314a4458), instead they can use human-readable names (e.g. james.move) when sending a transaction.

MNS names also can be used as IDs on dApps on the Aptos.

Prices of MNS name NFT

Currently, registration costs are set at the following prices:

  • 6+ character .move names: 1 APT per year.
  • 5 character .move names: 5 APT per year.
  • 4 character .move names: 20 APT per year.
  • 3 character .move names: 60 APT per year.
  • 2 character .move names: 120 APT per year.

If you register for 2~5 years initially, you need to pay a small additional fee.

Because of the scarcity of 2–5 character .move names, they are more expensive.

We are also setting our current costs low in order to give back to our community which has supported us since the beginning.

Please note that after a certain period of time, we will likely increase the registration cost for MNS names.

How to Get MNS names

The following steps to get your .move name:

Available Character Sets

We are launching MNS with a limited character set in order to ensure that the system operates safely and correctly.

MNS name’s rules

  • Letters a-z, numbers 0-9, and “-” are allowed.
  • Only lower case letters are allowed.
  • Names may not begin/end with “-”.
